VFAPI plugins

This is a collection of free VFAPI plugins suitable for AV Adjust. Some plugins we have developed specially for AV Adjust but they can be used also with all other VFAPI capable programs. Others come from engaged programmers or are part of third-party software.

All plugins which you can download here come with an uniform setup routine so that you can integrate them into your system as simply as possible. Detailed informations about plugins and how to use they with AV Adjust you will find in our FAQ.

Note: If you know about other good plugins or have even yourself written one we would be very glad if you tell us about this. We then will test it and, provided that no invincible problems appear with it, put it into the following collection.

AV Adjust DirectShow Audio Reader 1.0

Description: Decodes sound files using DirectShow
Filter name: DirectShow Audio
Tracks: Audio
File formats: AC3, AIF, AIFF, ASF, AU, AVI, MP2, MP3, SND, WAV, WM, WMA, WMD, WMV
Notes: Which formats the plugin can handle really depends on which DirectShow codecs are available on your computer. It's worth to trying it!

AV Adjust DirectShow RIFF Reader 1.0

Description: Import of RIFF-based media files (AVI and WAV) with option for Smart Rendering
Filter name: AVI/WAV via DirectShow
Tracks: Video and Audio
File formats: AVI, WAV, AVIDS
Notes: Provides double-way access to AVI and WAV files: The decoding of video and audio data is done using DirectShow, but like in the old "Video for Windows" (VfW) the compressed data as well as all RIFF header chunks are also accessible by means of an (extended) interface. This means that AV Adjust can apply Smart Rendering to files for which no VfW codec exists.

Using the file extension AVIDS you can mark files as especially intended for this plugin. AVIDS can be either a simply renamed AVI (or WAV) file or a small text file which can contain following (optional) informations:

MPEG-2 VIDEO Reader 0.6.55a

Description: Import of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video as well as MP2 sound
Filter name: MPEG-2 VIDEO Plug-In

File formats: MPEG, MPG, M2P, MP2, VOB, VRO, M1V, M2V, MPV, VES, M2T, SSG, TS, BS, and others
Notes: Although the author has given to his plugin such a careful version number it already works very stable in most cases. During our tests it behaved stubbornly only with some MPEG-1 files. But with DVD compatible MPEG-2 it is already now the better choice in comparison with most DirectShow based solutions. In addition it seems that the plugin supports even DVB streams directly (file type TS). However this we could not verify. Therefore reports of experience are welcome.
According to license terms, all C++ sources of the plugin are included. Recent releases you will find on the author's web page below.

TMPGEnc Project File Reader

Description: Import of TMPGEnc project files

Notes: This plugin allows to read in project files of the MPEG encoder TMPGEnc. An advantage is that to picture and sound all filter settings defined in TMPGEnc are applied, e.g. cuts, color corrections, or ghost reduction. Moreover it is possible to simply generate an AVI file from a TMPGEnc project. This is ideal to create an alias file (see AV Adjust help) for AV Adjust from an existing TMPGEnc project.
The plugin ist a part of TMPGEnc package and cannot be downloaded separately.

DVD2AVI Project File Reader

Description: Import of DVD2AVI projekt files

Notes: DVD2AVI is one of the best tools to make a MPEG-2 file "editable". In fact the majority of all free programs for MPEG editing are based at last on DVD2AVI. The program creates a relatively small D2V file which can be loaded by the VFAPI plugin into AV Adjust and other programs where it guarantees very liquid and picture-precise work with the MPEG-2 video. Also the sound tracks of the MPEG videos are copied out together with the D2V file and can be read in usually, e.g., via the AV Adjust DirectShow Audio Reader plugin.
The DVD2AVI plugin would be the very best choice for MPEG-2 files - but it permits itself an incomprehensible mistake: The plugin may be active only ONCE! If you don't believe this, try it... Therefore it is impossible to use D2V projects simultaneous in both the video and reference track of AV Adjust. This unintelligible behavior violates all rules of the plugin programming and, unfortunately, disqualifies DVD2AVI for the award "Ultimative MPEG-2 decoder".
