New in Releases 2.24 / 2.25

This is a brief list of the most important improvements in AV Adjust 2.24 and 2.25. See the version history for a full list of features which are added in comparsion to a specific AV Adjust release.

  • Consideration of the frame rate of reference video: Now You can easily work on movies with different frame rates in the same project, e.g. with NTSC and PAL.
  • Improved support for Indeo codecs: Movies compressed using an Indeo video codec was sometimes displayed incorrectly in AV Adjust because these codecs does not decompress the video data according to the standard. AV Adjust now handles Indeo movies in a special way.
  • Enlarged view of the correction curve: The correction curve can now be displayed in an additional window and is zoomable. So even critical areas with very high marker density can be comfortably "disentangled".
  • Support of any frame rates: All older versions of AV Adjust was limited to videos with a maximum frame rate of 30 pictures per second. This restriction exists no longer, i.e. videos now can be read and generated with any frame rate.
  • Extended chaptering functions: The "Insert chapters" dialog offers a new option to remove parts without sound from the movie. This is done by automatic putting of deactivated chapter points.
  • Automatic cross fading can be disabled: This is connected with the function just described: The automatic cross fading usually should be activated to avoid from switching noises. In the special case of removing parts without sound, however, it is better to work without cross fading because thus joining the original sound track seemlessly.
  • Project-specific settings dialog: Certain settings now can be defined as part of the actual project. In most cases is is no longer needed to reconfigure the global settings for every project.
  • Preview correction offset: This new setting replaces the parameter "Global offset". It simplifies the adjustment of AV Adjust to the target media as for example DVD's. The preview of AV Adjust can be corrected so that the temporal alignment of picture and sound is exactly the same as of the target device.
  • Minor bug fixes

Further improvements are involved already by AV Adjust 2.2:

  • Support of compressed sound files: AV Adjust is no longer restricted to uncompressed WAV files. It can now open almost all sound formats supported by Microsoft® DirextX™.
  • Multichannel sound files: You can now work directly on sound with more than two stereo channels. Necessary conversions are done automatically between the channel formats 1.0 (mono), 2.0 (stereo), 3.0, 3.1 and 5.1. When no format conversion is needed (i.e. if the audio and the double track are of the same format) the sound can have even any number of channels.
  • Segmented audio and video files: In some cases large amounts of video and audio data are splitted into several small files instead of a single giant file. AV Adjust can recognize such segmented files and treat it as a single file.
  • VFAPI plugin support: AV Adjust now also uses the popular VFAPI interface to read audio and video files. With VFAPI the range of loadable file formats can be extended practically unlimited. Do you have to work on TS-files, or you want to use 5.1 surround sound from an AC3 file? No problem with the appropriate plugin! From our support area you can download free VFAPI plugins tested with AV Adjust.

Compatibility

AV Adjust 2.2x can open any project file of all earlier AV Adjust versions. Vice versa, AV Adjust 2.0 can also open projects of versions 2.2x while they don't use the new features described above. Projects saved in AV Adjust 2.x however can not be opened using AV Adjust 1.x.
