Tutorial 1: Constant offset between picture and sound

6. Adjustment of picture and sound

Rough alignment

If you have estimated the difference at around a half second, you can rely on your sense of time. At our frame rate of 25 fps, a half second corresponds precisely to 12.5 video frames (25 fs-1 · 0,5 s = 12,5 f). Fractional numbers, however, you cannot specify as correction value. Write either 12 or 13 into the input field. This is your starting value for the final adjustment.

Spline properties

In the preview you can see that picture and sound fit now already much better.

Final adjustment - The Live Edit Function

Start at the Spline marker a short preview of ± 0.5 second. You will see and hear the first hammer blow which is repeated again and again. The Live Edit Funktion of AV Adjust now offers the possibility to edit the settings of the current marker even while the preview is running. Changes are automatically applied every time before the next preview loop.

Use the arrow buttons Spin buttons next to the input field to increase or decrease the correction value gradually. Establish in this way an optimum synchronous run of picture and sound.

If you are content with the result, inspect the whole video using an accordingly long preview and make sure that the synchronous run is restored everywhere. Finally we will explain how you can write out the result of your work as a normal video or audio file.
